"Whoever kills a soul...it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves a soul, it is as if he had saved all of mankind."
- Qur'an, Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:32)
In a world overwhelmed by numbers-death tolls, headlines, hashtags-Islam brings us back to the human heart.
One life. One soul. One face. That's all it takes to move the scale of divine justice.
Yet today, in Gaza, the world looks away as thousands of innocent lives-men, women, and especially children-are not just dying from bombs, but from starvation, dehydration, and systematic neglect.
This isn't just war.
This is a humanitarian catastrophe. And Islam does not permit us to be numb to it.
The Qur'an is clear. In Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:32), Allah equates the murder of a single innocent person to the murder of all of humanity. This verse wasn't revealed for passive reflection-it was meant to shake us, to stop us, to awaken our moral responsibility.
One soul in Islam is sacred.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once looked at the Ka'bah, the holiest site in Islam, and said:
"How sacred you are, O Ka'bah. But by Allah, the sanctity of the believer is greater than yours."
(Ibn Majah 3932)
Yes, greater than the Ka'bah.
That is the status of a single human being in Islam.
Gaza is now facing one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time.
This is not because food doesn't exist.
It's because the world has refused to give it to them.
The people of Gaza are being starved into silence, suffocated under rubble, and forgotten by a world scrolling past.
But Allah is not unaware.
And the hearts of the sincere believers cannot be unaware either.
Allah says in the Qur'an:
"And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart-about all of those you will be questioned."
(Qur'an 17:36)
You saw the videos.
You heard the screams.
So what will your heart do now?
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart-and that is the weakest of faith."
(Sunan an-Nasai 5008)
You may not have power, but you still have faith.
And faith means action.
You can make a difference. Even one small act can be the reason Allah grants you forgiveness and mercy.

The believers are one body. When one part hurts, the entire body feels it.
The Ummah cannot be whole while Gaza bleeds.
We cannot claim to follow the Prophet ﷺ and ignore the cries of our brothers and sisters.
If the Qur'an teaches us that saving one life is like saving all of humanity, then how will we answer for the thousands lost while we stood silent?
