2 Million Palestinians to Be Moved-Former Israeli PM Calls It Ethnic Cleansing

Source: iViews   July 14, 2025

In a move that has sparked outrage around the world, Israel's government is pushing ahead with a plan to relocate over two million Palestinians into what it calls a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of Rafah in southern Gaza.

But not everyone is buying the narrative.

Even former Israeli Prime Ministers Yair Lapid and Ehud Olmert are now calling the plan what many Palestinians and human rights groups have been warning about for months: a concentration camp.

"If exiting it is prohibited, then it is a concentration camp," Lapid told Israeli Army Radio.

Olmert didn't mince his words either:

"If they are deported into the new 'humanitarian city,' you can say this is part of ethnic cleansing," he told The Guardian.
"There is no other understanding that I have at least."

Here's What's Happening

Over the past few months, satellite images have shown a sharp increase in the destruction of Rafah. What was already a flattened city is being cleared even more aggressively - over 28,000 buildings destroyed as of July.

The new "humanitarian city" is being built on top of that rubble. According to the Israeli plan, it will first hold 600,000 displaced Palestinians, but eventually every person in Gaza-more than two million-will be relocated there.

Israel says the relocation is voluntary. But when you've bombed every other place people could live... is it really a choice?

What Humanitarians Are Saying

Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, didn't hold back.

"This would de facto create massive concentration camps," he said. "It would deprive Palestinians of any future in their homeland."

He called it what it is: a second Nakba - a forced expulsion, generation after generation.

And while all of this is happening, aid is being weaponized.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a private group backed by both Israel and the U.S., has taken over most food distribution. Since their sites opened, over 800 Palestinians have been killed while trying to get food.

Meanwhile, GHF is quietly pitching a plan for camps where Palestinians can "temporarily reside, deradicalize, and prepare to relocate." Relocate where, exactly? Nobody says.

Let's Be Honest About What's Going On

This isn't about safety. This isn't about peace. And this certainly isn't about rebuilding Gaza.

As one analyst put it bluntly:

"Israel's ultimate goal here is the physical destruction of Gaza... and the forcible depopulation of the entire Strip."

These aren't just political strategies. These are lives. Families. Homes. Dreams.

And now, even voices from within Israel are starting to say it:
This isn't a "humanitarian city."
It's a prison.
It's a purge.
And the world is watching.
