HHRD is always available to provide support where it is needed.

The powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Nepal’s Karnali Province reached a shallow depth of just 11 miles. The seismic event triggered 382 aftershocks, leaving more than 1.3 million vulnerable to the elements.

Tragically, 153 lives were lost, and over 338 individuals were injured. The aftermath has devastated communities, particularly in Jajarkot and Rukum districts.

HHRD on the Frontlines Mobilising Relief

As the scale of destruction became clear, Nepal’s government concluded its search and rescue missions in November 2023 and issued an international appeal for assistance. HHRD (Helping Hand for Relief and Development) immediately mobilized its relief teams to deliver critical support to those most affected.

The Government’s Initial Rapid Assessment reported that over 2,954 homes were partially damaged, 937 were destroyed, and 91 school buildings were severely impacted.

In response, HHRD delivered life-saving aid, including clean water, food, emergency shelter, hygiene supplies, and sanitation facilities to displaced families in the hardest-hit areas.

A Longstanding Commitment to Nepal

HHRD has been actively working in Nepal since 2015, offering vital services to local Nepalese communities and Rohingya refugees. Their presence has made a significant impact through:

  • Orphan Care: Supporting 700 orphaned children with shelter, education, and basic needs.
  • Water Projects: Constructing safe water systems annually to combat water scarcity.
  • Skills Training: Provide vocational and livelihood training to over 150 individuals annually.
  • Healthcare Access: Distributing medical in-kind gifts and nutritional support to vulnerable populations.
  • Seasonal Support: Facilitating Ramadan food distributions, Eid-ul-Adha meat drives, and winter relief initiatives.

In recognition of its inclusive and impactful efforts, HHRD received a Certificate of Appreciation from Nepal’s National Disabled Fund, highlighting its dedication to marginalized and disabled communities.

Support HHRD’s Mission

With thousands displaced and vital infrastructure destroyed, HHRD’s mission in Nepal is critical. Every donation contributes directly to helping families rebuild their lives, regain stability, and recover with dignity.

Join HHRD in bringing hope to Nepal.

Together, we can turn compassion into action.
