The International Court of Justice in The Hague has ordered Israel to stop its military offensive in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The UN's top court described the humanitarian situation there as disastrous and ordered Israel to allow unhindered access of aid.

But Israeli politicians have rejected the ruling, saying that operations against Hamas - a group considered a terrorist organization by multiple countries - will continue. Though ICJ orders are legally binding, the court has no police or military force to enforce them.
