Salaams,

Looking for everyone's opinions please.

Yes? No? Maybe? Not sure? Why do you think either way?....etc. Want to know what you all think.

You're name Suzanne means Lily....that is not a problem with Islamic names.  Renee means Reborn.....again, shouldn't be a problem.

Your name has a nice meaning.  It's a good name sis.  The sahabi didn't have to change their names when they converted unless the name had a bad meaning.

By the way, my Chinese nickname means Lily.

Salamms,

Salam, yes I did convert; and yes Suzanne was my name before. I new that it meant lily but I did not know if it was good for an Islamic name.

Abeer,

My Mom told me that out of her children my Name was the only one she had to think about. She liked Catalillys (Flower) this is why she choose Suzanne because Suzanne means Lily (Flower) Mashallah

Thanks for the feedback all.

Assalamu Alaikum:

When I reverted many people told me to choose a Muslim name, even though my name has no unIslamic meaning. I told them that as all babies are born Muslim, I was a Muslim when I was given my name and why should I change it?

Suzanne is a lovely name.

Not to change anything from the discussion but if your name was Lucifer should you change it if you're Muslim?

Perhaps you could shorten it to Lucy!

(Well, the word Devil wouldn't be acceptable though.)

Assalamu Alaikum:

As far as I know, Lucifer has no Islamic meaning. I think if it were Iblis you might want to give a change a go...

naoozubillah sister mishmish, iblis is the name of a jinn who disobeyed Allah by not prostrating to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) after Allah created Prophet Adam. so Allah cursed iblis forever and he has become shaytan

never keep the name iblis

Salam Salman,

I think you might have missed read what Sis Mishmish said "to give a change a go"Which means Yes change the name. She was using dry Humor. I belive she knows what Iblis means. All she was saying is Lucifer has not Islamic meaning.

Well Salman is honest....

Well Lucifer is not Arabic but Hebrew which means "Morning Star" I actually like the name and if Lucifer wasn't so tainted in society I'd name my kid that. As my child(s) woul be my morning star.
