Worse dreams are only from Satan, who is our worst opponent and will never go away us alone and will upset us even in our thoughts. Here are two ways Satan can upset our be asleep:

Scary dreams: we get very well that the objective of the Satan is to create us lose our faith and make us weaker. That is why Satan will fear us in the scary dreams to drag us away from Allah.
By projecting one to entrust a sin: Another way he can worry our dream is to make us entrust a sin. For example, committing infidelity, being naked, doing drugs, etc. Satan does this to weaken our confidence.

My Qur'an search does not show Satan causing dreams. I find God sometimes causing dreams and imparting interpretations only.

Your source does not support your post. I suspect you may have some folklore mixed in here. Can you provide better support from Qur'an or hadith?

Dear David C,

Yes you're right that in the Quran there is no special verse that explains about satan causing dreams, but it's in the hadith.

"If one of you had a nightmare, then spit to the left side three times, and read:" A'udzubillaahi minasysyaithaanirrajiim (I seek refuge in Allah from the temptation of satan accursed) "three times. Then turn to the other side at the place where you sleep." (Narrated by Muslim)

Explanation:
Understanding the spit here is not up to salivate (only movement of spit).

Regards,
Asep
