Dear Brothers,
Asalamalaikum! My question is regarding marriage of a non-islamic guy and islamic girl. Their marriage held with islamic culture by Maulvi. But Maulvi was not aware that the boy is non-islamic and even the boy's name was told him as in Muslim. On the marriage certificate the name of the boy is wrong, which is not actually his original name and he was never converted to islam. Usually in an Islamic wedding it takes about half an hour to one hour in following all the rituals and prayers, even the groom and the bride has to read some prayers. But in this wedding everything finished just in 10 minutes without saying any prayers by groom and bride. Also they were not asked 3 times if they are agreed for this marriage. They were asked just once. I want to know whether this kind of wedding is valid or not? Thanks and regards |

Wa alaikum salam, In Islam a muslim woman can only marriage to muslim man. In Islam this kind of marriage is not valid. However who can decide the boy/man is muslim or not only himself, nobody can say he is non muslim if he himself as a muslim. As long as he willingly to say the shahadah, he is muslim. He is a true muslim or not only himself and Allah know, we can not judge. Regardign the duration of the nikah ceremony, 10 minutes is more than enough. If what you say is true then NO the marriage is not valid. A Muslimah can only marry a Muslim man. |
