All,

Full disclosure: I'm a graduate student and am working on a paper about Christian-Muslim dialogue and have been asked to interact with a Muslim on a variety of questions as preparation for the paper. During my preparations, I have developed a couple of questions that I'd love to discuss with a (or a couple) of Muslim(s) who might be interested.

To begin the conversation, I have a couple of related questions:

Aside from the ~28 times in which the Qu'ran mentions Jesus, what is the source from which Islam draws its information regarding his life and teachings? Said differently, if Jesus was a prophet (as the Qu'ran holds), was his message recorded? If so, where? If not, how do we know (beyond what the Qu'ran affirms about him), what Jesus' message was?

Related to this is the Islamic view of the Bible: What does do you believe to be true of the Bible? Was it a record of God's revelation that was later corrupted by Christians who imported false theological perspectives (particularly on the divinity of Jesus)?

Thanks!
