The word Islam means, among other things, devotion and submission in
Arabic. The word Islam originates from the consonants �s l m� of which
we can make up the word salam and the meaning of it, which is peace. It gives a core lesson to establish peace, Justice, tranquility and humbleness.

Thank you. Actually Islam means 'Peace' as well as "Submission". But we should have the real akidah on which sense Islam means peace and submission. Islam is a complete code of life. When you enter to this code of life( Dwin, system of life, not individual religion) you have to declare the submission of your whole entity to the sovereignty of Allah. From that time you can not but obey the rules of Allah, and the greater thing is that you can not obey any rule or law which does not comes from the Allah or on behalf of Allah (la ilaha illAllah-There is no sovereign except Allah). When you accept the submission to Allah and practice the rules in your entire life- personal, family, social, national, economical, penal and other spheres, then you must have a peaceful life, as Allah is Sobahan, (perfect, not a single fault). He has given such rules that must leads to complete peace and security. From this sense Islam means peace.
