1 Samuel 13:1 (Darby)
Saul was ... years old when he became king; and he reigned two years over Israel. Analysis: A few surviving Septuagint Manuscripts record "Saul was 30 years old..." However, the Jewish Masoretic version lacks the number. There is an unambiguous corruption to the text at this point. Indeed, the text is corrupt enough that it is difficult to render compare Young's translation: "A son of a year [is] Saul in his reigning, yea, two years he hath reigned over Israel. So, how can any deny that the Jewish Masoretic text is corrupt that is to say, there are at least a few places where the text is deffective? |
