Salaam,

You guys have some good points. Just tell Delroy to think a bit more before he writes. Shouldn't be too hard. Doesn't look like he thinks much at all. Does he have some personal vendetta against libraries? They're Great.

Didn't the hijackers go to school, perhaps the schools should be shut down too

It seems this guy doesn't think, Kim

and what about bookshops, perhaps they brought a book or two

oh and where did they get their explosives from?

Our mate Delroy's off again. Here's the link and my reply to him.

"On Borrowed Time
Terrorists use libraries. Law enforcement should be vigilant in the stacks. "

http://www.nationalreview.com/murdock/murdock200505030804.asp

Dear Delroy,

There you go again - hijackers used libraries!

Well you better just shut all those libraries down then, shouldn't you?

And while you're at it, don't forget that the hijackers also used
airports and aeroplanes, so you better shut all those down as well.
That way, when your country is breeding more and more ignorant
citizens, due to lack of facilities like libraries and, well,
INFORMATION...they won't actually be able to leave the good ol' USA in order to annoy the rest of us. Oh yeah - they might even be so
ignorant, they won't even know we're here! PHEW!

I'm sorry, what was that quote again of yours from 11/9/2001?
Let me remind you:

"But over the long term, political leaders must exercise extreme
caution about overreacting to these staggeringly severe circumstances.
Those who have called for government control of Internet-encryption
technology, monitoring of the movements of cell-phone users and
similar surveillance techniques will demand these and other steps in
the aftermath of these disasters. In the name of fighting terrorism,
such steps may be appealing. However, American leaders and voters
alike should be very careful about embracing measures today that will
leave citizens less free in the long run in an effort to catch
criminals in the here and now. The Bill of Rights must not collapse
with the Twin Towers."

Gee - I hope you don't get too many splinters in your backside from all your rampant fence-sitting.

Course you are! Your mum's doing all the typing for you, isn't she?!

Read _this_ though! It's another letter I sent to the author a little while ago:

"Dear Deroy,

What sort of a hypocrite _are_ you?

Compare this to what you are now saying about librarians!
<>
http://www.nationalreview.com/murdock/murdock091101.shtml

"In the face of this calamity, officials will be tempted to restrict
civil liberties. Indeed, as I write these words, I am stuck on
Manhattan Island with several million other Americans. Tunnels and
bridges are sealed. Rail and bus service has been suspended. And, of
course, our three airports are closed, along with every other domestic
airfield. The only planes aloft here are U.S. fighter jets that have
begun to patrol overhead

These measures are understandable right now, especially if authorities
hope to catch potential suspects in these high crimes. But over the
long term, political leaders must exercise extreme caution about
overreacting to these staggeringly severe circumstances. Those who
have called for government control of Internet-encryption technology,
monitoring of the movements of cell-phone users and similar
surveillance techniques will demand these and other steps in the
aftermath of these disasters. In the name of fighting terrorism, such
steps may be appealing. However, American leaders and voters alike
should be very careful about embracing measures today that will leave
citizens less free in the long run in an effort to catch criminals in
the here and now. The Bill of Rights must not collapse with the Twin
Towers."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<> So which opinion is actually yours?

Good luck making up your mind - we look forward to deciding whether
you are Arthur, Martha or Dubya.

Kim..."

And I don't care if "they" ARE watching me. I have nothing to hide. Let them watch - I hope I annoy/bore the living ... brown stuff... out of them.

Yeah - I sent him another email this morning apologising for letting my ranting ability overcome my research skills - the internet wasn't invented by NASA at all - it was invented by the US Department of Defence!

That just makes it _so_ much worse for the author, don't you think?  ;)
