This I agree to. I would like to point  out however, there are people in this world who are in contention with God/Allah. If one is to love for the sake of Allah, and make friends for His sake purely, then one cannot make freinds with such people. Unless of course if they choose to change their selves.

Islam does not preach friendships with people who are in opposition with their creator. One is not supposed to fight them, but finding peace with such on all occasions is difficult since people are sensitive to their choices.

thank you for your comments UmmTaaha..

Holy Quran

Al-Mumtahinah

1. O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists, etc.) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth

2. Should they gain the upper hand over you, they would behave to you as enemies, and stretch forth their hands and their tongues against you with evil, and they desire that you should disbelieve.

.

8. Allh does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allh loves those who deal with equity.

9. It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allh forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zlimn (wrong-doers those who disobey Allh).

I wont fight them for sure, but I cannot choose them for company either ...

Their choices and inclinations are different. Their aims and objectives in this earth are also different.

The Quran says, Allah created the men and jinn except for His worship. People who do not believe in Allah and the last day, have other goals from this lif, than spending it in His good pleasure. Our hearts are certainly affected by  the company we keep. Thus we should be carefull about the influnce of types of people around us.
