In Their Footsteps

We Muslims of America are often discriminated, classified as names we do not wish for and ultimately suffer because we are Muslims. When exactly did we deserve this? We don't deserve these circumstances but wait and be patient. If we were being accused we could stand up for ourselves and try to clear up our accusations. It may not be the discriminations that  make you suffer, it might be illness, sadness, depression or so on. Yet these are are the Trials of Allah, the Greatest being, King who bestows us these tests we have to face.

We may or not complain about these sufferings, struggles we go through, but we need to strong just like the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The companions weren't lucky as we were of today in the modern world. They were hurt, tortured, insulted, taunted, lost their status among the community, their pride being ruined and seeing their beloved one dies just because they wanted Muslims. They had sacrificed so many things for the pleasure and sake of Allah.

Did they regret it? They didn't! They believed that Allah will surely protect them whatever happens or in any disaster that overcomes them. The companions lived through their hurt and their conflicts, because they knew they had to be patient and thrive for whatever they could do. They stood up together and tried to walk towards no matter how they were ridiculed, mocked at, or being hurt.

So when you or me or the whole Ummah is troubled in some kind of situation, don't look back and regret that you did it. Look towards and remember our past role models the companions, the hardworking followers of the Prophet.  Imagine yourself in their shoes; migrating from Makkah their homeland from they were born and raised to leave to Madinah to renew themselves and make things better; just to believe in Allah.

These great companions had tried to be better Muslims as they followed the Prophet and did everything to what they could do. Going through wars, helping one another, trying to protect the weaker ones and living as what Allah had instructed. Even when they made mistakes, they decide to go over it and try to fix things up so they won't cause any harm to any others.

The companions weren't that perfect but they had the Prophet Muhammad to help them to guide them and their faith in Allah to lead them to the straight, proper path. There has been painful moments and hardships that lead them to feel worried about their faith. Yet, they went towards hoping for the best for them and their Prophet. When you think about the companions putting full faith in Allah, you have to look at yourself too. Surely, you aren't the best or greatest but there is something about yourself that makes you a good Muslim.

If you have worries about something, fears or anything elsethen let your faith in Allah guide you throughout obstacles you encounter, it will be your light, help and a whole new personal hijrah of struggles to the best you can be. It will take time, yet slowly everything will take place and we can find our place in the world; as everything will be alright, no matter the harshness of our difficulties as surely Allah will help us.
