in Qur'an in several places,it is mentioned that iblis ones a pious jinn when refuses to bow down in front of prophet Adam(pbuh),Allah had punished him and grant him respite till day of judgement.Iblis said that He will try to astray people from right path,Allah says those who obey Allah will enter paradise whereas those who obey Satan will enter hell,so yes Satan is the evil which try to astray us from straight path.
