kindly guide me in this matter, if a husband hasn't fulfilled marital relationship and divorces after 6 months of separation what does islam tell us to do for iddat, is it right to complete full iddat period?and what if the girl is working woman too n taking leave for 3 months or so is inevitable?

If the marriage was not consumated, but the husband and wife had the chance to be in company of eachother in privacy, then the iddat of 3 months and 10 days becomes necessary.
If they never had a chance to be alone after the nikah, then observation of iddat is not necessary. On the otherhand, if the woman is forced to leave her home to win her bread, she may go out for work. And Allah knows best. This is a very basic answer, for detailed rulings you must consult a scholar or write to a QandA forum like on www.seekersguidance.org Edited by Nausheen - 02 February 2013 at 5:20pm |
