Wa Alaykum Salaam,
Im glad to see your hear, its takes strength to come here to want to have discussions with us. So many people are scared, I dont know why! Other than the fact that they dont have the proper knowledge about Islam and the people. Media has tainted the views of so many people. I personally welcome you here, would love to chat about Islam with you anytime. As you said you know other muslims, this is wonderful.....as we all hold a common ground....We love our God. swt. He is the Creator.....Muslims love all people, we arent to be feared. Hope to hear from you soon. |

Assalamu Alaikum, 5purplemarbles, LOL I am not afraid of Muslims or Islam. In addition to some good Muslim friends I have, I also went to the West Bank two years ago where I have volunteered with Christian Peacemaker Teams and International Solidarity Movement, two groups that document Israeli army and settler abuses and try to intervene and lessen the violence by providing international accompaniment to kids walking to school and farmers going to their fields. I spent most of my 6 weeks in Hebron. I have been hosted by Palestinian Muslims who despite the poverty they live in, shared everything with us (Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem acted in the exact same way). I have seen our Palestinian Muslim friends peacefully stand up to the IDF and get arrested and tackled and beaten down. When a group of Israeli settlers attacked me and bashed my nose in with a metal pipe for documenting their violence in the village of al Bwehre, I had over 200 Palestinian Muslim visitors in the hospital who had no idea who I was, but came to say hello and wish me well before my surgery. I have met a heroic Muslim principal in Hebron who teaches and loves her students despite the fact they are often attacked on the way to school by settlers, and humiliated by soldiers. I was inspired by the kids who in spite of all the dangers and pain they face still go to school, they put some of my students to shame. I have had the privilege, along with my teammates, of escorting them from school. Alhamdullilah no violence at that time broke out. While in the West Bank I faced two incidents where a Muslim boy threatened to throw a rock at me after seeing the cross I wear around my neck (I don't know Arabic well but he was scowling at me and saying "masihi" which if I am not mistaken is Arabic for Christian) and later a Muslim man ordered me to take it off 'because it is Ramadan' but in both cases other Muslims intervened quickly. If you are interested in seeing my blog about my experiences in Palestine and Israel, please feel free to check out my blog www.livingstones-tomasz.blogspot.com My friend, islamispeace, shared it also on this forum two years earlier so you may or may not have seen it. In my city, I have marched alongside Muslims in protests against the wars in Afghanistan, Palestine/Israel, Iraq, and against the deportation of a Muslim friend who was under threat of being deported to Syria but praise be to God he was spared and the letters we wrote and advocacy we engaged in was used by God to stay our immigration service's hand. In the online world, islamispeace is my good friend, and I enjoy talking to other Muslims on a forum called ChristianForums. I have nothing to fear from Muslims. We both do acknowledge Allah (God) is one and that He is Creator, and that He is greatest and best. Muslims and Christians agree on a lot of things. I would be lying though to say that we agree on everything. There are major differences in what we believe, and I think it's great to openly acknowledge them and discuss them. You believe Islam is true, and I feel the same way about Christianity. I think this will make for some very interesting discussion, and I am looking forward to being challenged on this forum and to challenging others, and may God guide us all to Him. Islamispeace and I also have an email debate that stretches on for hundreds of pages in MS Word, which he is very diligent in replying to and answering, and on which I must admit I take a very long time... |
