Salam all, Mohammed: (this matter -shariah, came in another section "Current Events", therefore, thought to post a part of that here due to its relevance.) To begin with, I would like to say the topic should be "Shariah in Ontario" as opposed to "shariah in Canada" as it was only under consideration in the province of Ontario, and not in whole of Canada. There are many who ridicule the Qur'an, badmouth Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him ) or go about proclaiming that Shariah (Islamic Law) is backward and discriminates against women. The former comprises two main schools, Hillel and Shamai, with the second of these being the stricter. Similarly, applied Shariah also follows different legal schools, ranging from very lenient to very harsh. It was the intent of Muslims in Ontario, Canada to have shariah based tribunals extended to them just as Jews and christians already had them. Did it mean that Muslims wanted to "impose" their way of life on everybodyelse in Ontario and around the world? Of course not. It is a dangerous misconception. And nobody is going to force it on you, and nobody, in fact, can force it on you in a democratic set up. It applies to Muslims. Islamophobia around the world makes you feel that Muslims are threat, whereas we are not. A minority of us may not be following the right path, but have you met 1.5 billion Muslims around the world ? Who gives you the right to speak for them? Media---- My friend, learn Islam from appropriate sources, and don't just bash Muslims and Islam as you wish. Learn Islam and then you will find yourself that Islam is of course the religion of peace and surrender to God. Islam CAN NOT be forced on any one. In some muslim countries, you may hear shariah being praciticed. Let me tell you that no Muslim country in the world, for the time being, has implemented Shariah ( islamic law ) in its true sense. Please don't judge Islam by those examples. Learn Islam and you find it how fruitful it is.
May Allah guide us all.

[QUOTE=Mohammed]Never will sharia law be allowed in any western country, it is as abismal betrayal of old sultanistic government, I for one, would want to see muslims stand by the laws of the countries they emmigrate to, if you can't, then get out.[QUOTE] This is one of the most sensible thing I have read here! Does anyone here honestly think its acceptable to have a seperate set of laws to those of the host country you reside in? The whole idea is horrifying and sends a cold chill down my spine. You have to follow the laws of your country.. you can not be exepmt from it! Has anyone read Animal Farm by Gorge Orwell? He summed it up perfectly.. "All animals are equal, just some are more equal than others" If you have then you will know how it turned out. |

Bismillah, Apparently in Canada, according to the post above, they do apply different laws already and were trying to add some Islaamci ones. Buddy, America is not my HOST country. Besides that, this earth belongs to Allah, The Most Glorious, and Muslims will try to follow His laws. Now, those who don't, are breaking the law. The problem is that we disagree with each other about what the Islaamic laws should be. Most people here don't believe in killing innocent people, ever. But people who do seem to think that that is in the Islaamic law. They are wrong, but that's their belief, unfortunately. If people in Canada can come up with Islaamic laws that they agree to follow, that's their business. So you seem to want to rule America and Canada, but that's not your job, nor Bush's either. (Remember, Gore won?) |

Herjiahd: Apparently in Canada, according to the post above, they do apply different laws already and were trying to add some Islaamci ones. Yes, you are right. It was the intent of Muslims in Ontario, Canada to have shariah based tribunals extended to them just as Jews and Christians already had them. But, the government, primarily due to divisions in the Muslim community ( a minority with loud voice in the community against Shariah, majority however, in favour of Shariah ) decided not to do so. The Government of Ontario also decided that all such existing religion based tribunals would be banned in order to appear "non discriminatory". Peace
