Thus, they can easily be suppressed.

Candor, where in the Quran or the Sunnah does it state that women working outside the home is in defiance of ISLAMIC law? In case you have forgotten, or just haven't read, the Prophet's first wife Khadija, the first person to accept Islam, owned her own business and the Prophet worked for her until they married. His wife Aisha, who is responsible for memorizing more of the hadith than anyone else, led armies in battle. At the time of the prophet many women followed the men at times of war to nurse and care for them. Where are you getting your Islamic information?

Perhaps it seems that Muslim women are becoming more outspoken for their rights because many modern Muslim men have chosen to ignore the teaching of Islam and the Prophet and take these rights away.

Islam does not directly debars women from working outside home. However, restriction imposed on women by Islam concerning interaction with people from opposite sex makes it virtually impossible for them to work in modern working environments (and all the preceding discussion was on that context). However I won't discuss it further here, because, neither you nor I, is a scholar.

no they are socialised to not work outside the home..and brother coming from India where many women work in the fields, you should know that we are very adapt to work outside. i have even worked on a construction site carry heavy instrument. so er..wake up..oh and get you facts straight on your own religion.

Why don't you read class 5 or 6 books to know the difference in physical characteristics between man and women. Physical characteristics of men are such that they are well adapted to work outside as they are more musculur and taller (because of greater secretion of Growth Hormone in their adolescence) and thus, have a greaer ability to do  hard work. That suitability remains relevant even in the modern times.

Woman's body is adapted  to store as much fat as possible so as to nourish the foetus at the time of pregnancy. Their bones and muscles are comparably weaker. All this points to nature selecting women not to work outside home.

Candor, forget some book or two, and open your eyes to the phyiscal world, I think I told you also about this, many women, work in the fields/farms, and i agree i soulsearching, that you coming from idia where many women work in the fileds, should know this!

If your still into reading books, then read up on women working the fields and farms, just as equal as men, and don't forget to catch that women, when giving birth, would stop for a little while and get straight back into working the land with baby not far behind or carried on their backs.

Go and do some more learning, because you are not going to win this one

There are many women, who do and have to work outside the home, this is noted throught history in many different cultures! just because men and women are different doesn't mean they cannot do same things like work the land, work in construction sites!

Not sure what one has to do with the other.. women and men have been working since the dawn of time.  This also presumes that women will spend their whole lives pregnant.. which is changing as families don't have 10 kids anymore.

What defines hard work?? Many men do jobs that require no physical labor.. they sit at a desk they are not building houses. Taking care of children is exhausting. If all men did it for a month they would appreciate it more .

the world is so complex and people do the best they can to make adequate judgements. Considering that certain Islamic countries, some farily socially conservative, have more women is science and engineering then hereis the west and working shows that the view that women are not capable or its not possible to maintain your modesty and work, is more of a personal belief.

Many women are forced to work outside home in India because of abject poverty. I sympathize with them and recognize great sacrifices they make for their families. I wont oppose them because their conscience is clear and they do so for their children.

But the preceding discussion was not on such women. It was about those women who have adopted a western way of life and who work outside even when they are not compelled  to do it (i.e., they and their children won't starve if they don't work out side) ignoring their duties to their families and religion (not withstanding, whatever they might claim to the contrary). The issues relating to these two types of women who work outside are different.

Besides, your point about poor women in India working outside home does not invalidate my earlier assertion that women are not suited to work outside home because these women work only because they do so under compelling circumstances, and, they dont undertake dangerous or difficult work.

And by the way, looking at the world is one thing, understanding it is another. Besides, you cannot look through the whole world. To understand the world, one must be able to look from different perspectives and learn from what other experienced. You need to read books for that.

Although, I believe women are not suited (according to nature) to work outside home, my objection to women working outside is not based on that. The preceding decision was on women who have adopted western culture and and work in mix environment (even, if that is not badly needed) ignoring their duties to their families.

Must be the rich families that you're talking about, where the women don't need to really go out and work.

Do you think the western way of life is all sweet and fine and rich ?

Do you know it's practically the norm for two to work to maintain a household, to pay the bills ??

It makes me wonder what view you have of western lifestyle?

Quote ignoring their duties to their families and religion (not withstanding, whatever they might claim to the contrary). The issues relating to these two types of women who work outside are different.

Actually you'd be quite surprised that the two aren't really different. And most especially in the past, where women worked on the farms, working on the land. Still goes on today.

Quote Besides, your point about poor women in India working outside home does not invalidate my earlier assertion that women are not suited to work outside home because these women work only because they are compelled to do so, and, they dont undertake dangerous or difficult work.

Who said anything about poor women??

And what about those who aren't compelled to but choose to do so because that's what they want to do?

I can tell you, these days when having a farm it takes two most especially when you don't have a lot of help and you can't afford to.

I have to hand it to those who choose to work the land these days with just about all going against them on farms where I live, the hardships and tears and sweat to keep going, both women and men along side each other, and I myself think why are they doing this do themselves, why don't they give up and you know, without them we wouldn't have food/produce in the supermarket shelves. They do it for us! Women do it for us! and along side men.

So don't tell me that in western style of life its different! and women are not to work outside the home!

That I agree to  and watching documentaries is not bad either

Candor, I don't disagree that men and women are different but when you come and say that women should not be allowed to work outside the home or do jobs that men do, is when you'll hear fireworks.

I like to know what consititutes a man's job these days when many see themselves as CEO of a company sitting behind a desk all day long  you'd think that should be a woman's job
