Semolina & Flour Cake (Basbouseh)

Semolina Flour Cake.
Ingredients:
Dough:
- Semoulina:3 cups
- Sugar: 2 cups
- Yogurt: 1 cup
- Butter: 1 pack
- Syrup:
- Sugar: 2 cups
- Water: 2 cups
- Lemon: 1 pinch
- Rose Water: 1 tablespoon
- Pistacchios or Almonds: 1/4 cup
- Semoulina:3 cups
- Sugar: 2 cups
- Yogurt: 1 cup
- Butter: 1 pack
- Syrup:
- Sugar: 2 cups
- Water: 2 cups
- Lemon: 1 pinch
- Rose Water: 1 tablespoon
- Pistacchios or Almonds: 1/4 cup
Preparation:
Syrup:
- Mix Water, sugar, lemon and rose water and boil in a pan for 6 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool at room temperature for 40 minutes.
Dough:
- Mix Semoulina with sugar and Yogurt. Add melted butter and mix until firm.
- Cover pan with thin layer of butter then sprinkle with Semoulina. Shake pan until the
semoulina stiks to all vbisible butter surface. Remove excess semoulina.
- Pour Dough into pan and place in the middle rack of the oven heated at medium
temperature and cook for 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cut dough into (squares, losanges or rectangles).
- Replace the pan in the oven and cook for another 10 minutes and until top is lightly
browned.
- Remove from Oven and pour the prepared cool syrup into the pan until it’s fully
absorbed by the dough.
- Sprinkle top with ground pistachios or almonds.
