  • Had We so willed, We could have sent down unto them a message from the skies, so that their necks would [be forced to] bow down before it in humility. - 26:4 (Asad) -

    وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ (26:5)

    Wama yateehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena

    Faqad kaththaboo fasayateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

  • thus, indeed, have they given the lie (to this message as well). But [in time] they will come to understand what it was that they were wont to deride! - 26:6 (Asad) -

    وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ (26:184)

  • they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering - 26:201 (Asad) -

    فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ (26:202)

    Fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

  • that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; - 26:202 (Asad) -

    فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ (26:203)

    Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona

  • Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chas­tisement be hastened on? - 26:204 (Asad) -

  • of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? - 26:207 (Asad) -

    وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ (26:208)

    Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona

  • And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned - 26:208 (Asad) -

    ذِكْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ (26:209)

    Thikra wama kunna thalimeena

    وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ (26:210)

    إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ (26:212)

    Innahum AAani alssamAAi lamaAAzooloona

  • verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! - 26:212 (Asad) -   


  •

    فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ (26:213)

    Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeena

  • Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. - 26:213 (Asad) -

    وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ (26:214)

    فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ (26:216)
