Ronald Wilson Reagan [1911 - 2004]

Ronald Wilson Reagan [1911 - 2004] died after a ten-year battle with the mind-destroying illness of Alzheimer's disease.

Mr. Reagan dominated the American political scene as Governor of California from 1966 to 1975 and then as President from 1980 to 1988.

Mr. Reagan will be remembered as the man who defeated communism and restored American confidence. But yet his tenure will be subject to vicissitudes of historical judgment. There are those who will remember him as a historic president and there are some who will vilify Mr. Reagan form his role in the Iran-Contra scandal to plunging the nation into its worst fiscal deficit.

No matter what our personal feelings may be about the international politics or domestic Reaganomics of the late president, Islamic ethics tell us not to speak ill of those who have passed away.

We commiserate with our fellow citizens on the passing away of Ronald Reagan, 40th president of the United States. We send our condolences to Mrs. Nancy Reagan and all his family members. We pray that may they be blessed with patience and perseverance to overcome this difficult time.

We pray that may God make the US a beacon for peace and justice around the world. We pray that may God give the present and future leaders of this nation the courage and wisdom to eliminate all forms of oppression, poverty, racism, illness, and injustice.

Do people know the intensity of the fire of hell? Every soul will run away from his or her soulmate(s)! It's day/time/moment/era of great calculation and balancing your deeds. "PLEASE GET A Ph.D. for your next life; an earthly Ph.D is NOT going to do you NO GOOD after you die" - these are words of my RADICAL and terrory IMAM.

I,H.A., however is great sinner. Who am I preaching? No prospect for me to enter paradise. The mosque I pray, its cements and sands are way too "radical" and "uncivilized", according to the Western "Peace Spreading" Talking Heads of FOXNEWS.

By the way! Sir Abdul Hakim needs a reality check. He needs to read others' comments posted here. Individuals like Sir Hakim are destroying Middle East and the Muslim World. Please do not become victim of SUPER-SIZE HAMBURGERS OF AMERICA and lose all your reasoning powers. I,H.A., is really tired of Muslim Puppets.

May Allah save us from proxies and puppets!

I totally agree with Saira Sayeed. I am against the eulogy in this article toward a president that has reddened his hands with innocent blood. Among the events occurring during his administration was Iraq Iran war, the notorious invasion of Lebanon, the Palestinian Intifada, to name some of the crises generated or tolerated by his amin. Let's not be fooled by our enemy and waste ourselves by applying Islamic values and practices to rejectors of faith! Praising Reagan is like the blunder late king Hussein of Jordan made when Itzhaq Rabin was assassinated,"I lost a friend and a brother!" Although, Rabin died on he becoming lenient on the Palestinian oppression that didn't make him a friend of the Arab world, let alone brother?! Yes, Rabin a former terrorist that led gangs of eager Zionists in to Palestinian peacefull villages to slaughter the population therein, became moderate under international pressure and as a result of a "deal". Should I call him friend? Brother? Could he give me back my lost childhood? My parents, my whole ancestral line massacred at Kapre(Kafre) Qasim? Yes, don't mention the few bad things a dead man might have done, concentrate on his good deeds, true for the common folk. I don't think that thieves, murderers, rapists and evil politicians causing international disasters belong with this saying. What next? Let's bless and pray for, Hitler, Stalin, Herzog, ben Gurion,Papa Bush and the gards of Abu Ghraib! Wasn't the prophet, pbuh, prevented to pray for his benefactor, Aby Talib?! Is Reagan comparable to Aby Talib? Am I wrong, oh Muslims, or some of us attempt to level differences on the expence of our Islamic identity? I don't feel sorry for Reagan, he lived his life,he had his fill now he had to check out. Death is a natural end in a man's life course. Muhammad, pbuh, said:"If somebody dies among you, bury him fast(same day,if possible), for if he was a goodman you hurry him to a good place and if he was a badman you rid the world of him, asap!"

BISMILLAH. ITS NICE TO KNOW THAT AN ISLAMIC

CROWD WERE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PRESS ROOM.
PRESIDENT REAGAN SINGLE-HANDED STOOD UP AGAINST ATHEISTIC COMMUNISM AND THE SOVIET UNION AND WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN PUSHING THE SOVIET UNION OUT OF AFGHANISTAN. LITTLE DID HE KNOIW THAT HIS HERCULEAN EFFORTS WOULD BE REWARDED BY THE EMERGENCE OF THE TALIBAN AND AL QAEDA WHOSE DICTATORIAL AND BLOOD-LETTING IDEOLOGY IS NO BETTER THAN THAT OF THE SOVIETS. BY THE GRACE OF GOD JUST AS WE SAW THE COLLAPSE OF THE SOVIET IDEOLOGY IN OUR LIFETIMES WE WILL SEE THE COLLAPSE OF THE AL QUADA IDEOLOGY SOON. ..

Dear Writer,
Salaams! It saddens me that you feel compelled to give condolences in a public arena to such a person. Yes, as Muslims we should pray for those who have passed on and not speak ill of them, but sir who are we dealing with?? If Bush were to die today will you also be writing a condolence letter to his family?? I truly wonder what you would write for him???

Why don't you give condolence to each family that has lost their loved ones due to the above metioned men. Unfortunaely, these people die with no name or family attatched to them and thus I guess their family does not deserve our prays and condolence. Why do we as Muslims have to publicy display love amd peace for those who promote hate and war, but we don't have the moral courage and Quranic verses to speak up for the injustices being dealt out to Muslims here and abroad????

Bismillah, When I had initially read Islamicity's article about the death of Ronald Wilson Reagan, I wantwd to attack everything that he stood for and paint a picture of him as a terrible hypocritical leader. Then I read the Quranic quotes that precede the Email page and the spirit of Allah calmed me and caused me to think of how I would like to be treated whwn death meets me.
