Palestinians are continuing demonstrations and a boycott of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in protest of increased security in the area imposed by Israel.

Israeli troops have cracked down on protests, which began more than one week ago, killing at least five Palestinians and injuring several others.

Palestinian leaders are warning Israel against any additional security measures in the area.

Israel has removed the metal detectors that triggered more than a week of violence, but says other measures will be introduced.

Al Jazeera's Imran Khan reports from occupied East Jerusalem.
