In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

Hijab is an Arabic word meaning barrier or partition.

Many people ask me what the purpose of wearing a hijab is and why Muslim girls wear the niqaab or the jilbab when it doesn't mention them in the Quran.

Well I'm going to give you my opinion of this question ...

When Muslim women wear the hijab, they not only try to cover themselves they try to maintain a strong relationship with their lord by doing as he has commanded them to do. Wearing the Niqaab is actually a good way of blocking the Dunya's desires, as you will not be trying to look for new trends to try. I believe the more covered you are the more pleased Allah (swt) is with you. This is because wearing the Niqaab or the hijab isn't easy to be honest. People will look at you different especially with the Niqaab. When a Muslim woman wears the Niqaab, she wears it to be judged by her intellectuality not her sexuality.

Now some Muslim women say that, it doesn't say in the Quran that they should cover ...

Let's see what it says in the Quran ..

"O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember"
Surat Al-A`rāf 7:26

Children of Adam refers to us .. so Allah is commanding us to cover ourselves whether you're a woman or a man!

"Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them..."
Quran (33:59)

The believers in this case are the Muslim men and we are their daughters, sisters, mothers or aunts etc.

Bukhari (6:321) - Muhammad is asked whether it is right for a young woman to leave her house without a veil. He replies, "She should cover herself with the veil of her companion."

And also Islamic law (sharia) requires women to cover.

Muslim women are required to observe the hijab in front of any man they could theoretically marry. This means that hijab is not obligatory in front of the father, brothers, grandfathers, uncles or young children. Modesty rules are open to a wide range of interpretations. Some Muslim women wear full-body garments that only expose their eyes. Some cover every part of the body except their face and hands. Some believe only their hair or their cleavage is compulsory to hide.

The benefits of covering yourselves, not only keeps you covered from men but also gives you more respect in the Islamic society. Men will not judge you from your appearance but your intellectuality. However in todays generation Muslim women tend to follow more fashionable styles for example the hump or in other words humps of camels, which gives women a structure of the head. This was actually one of the major signs of the day of resurrection that the prophet (pbuh) reported to his companions.

It was reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: There are two types of the people of Hell that I have not seen yet: men with whips like the tails of cattle, with which they strike the people, and women who are clothed yet naked, walking with an enticing gait, with something on their heads that looks like humps of camels, leaning to one side. They will never enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance. (Narrated by Ahmad)

The Prophet salla Allahu alayhi wasallam also stated,
There will be in the last of my Ummah, scantily dressed women, the hair on the top of their heads like a camels hump. Curse them, for verily they are cursed. [At-Tabarani and Sahih Muslim]

Sisters, who are you trying to impress Allah (swt) or Satan ...

What do you want to attain ... everlasting peace and purity in Jannah or everlasting torture and pain in Hell ..

You decide !!

I hope this has helped you

May Allah keep us guided and away from Satan

Ameen
