Kafir is an Islamic term for athiests. Christians are not kafir because they believe in Allah (God the father).

I agree that Muslims shouldn't call Christians unbelievers, but I believe anyone depending on Allah's/ God's mercy because of their deeds will not end up in a better place.

Could you explain this in another way. I don't understand what you're trying to say?
I believe people who receive the justice of Allah/God will be casted into the lake of fire. We need His mercy and to get his mercy we have to meet God on His terms not ours.
Deeds cannot save anyone nor is that the condition that leads to salvation. It is not what we do for Allah that counts; it is what He does in and through us that constitutes the mercy and grace of God mixed with our faith. If these conditions are not met, there will be no paradise.

Question: is a Muslim that has no shame considered a kafir or sentenced to jahanam? Does he need help and see someone? Or he is doomed in this life?
